== Parker Ingenuity == '''Myke Hurley:''' I love it. The next one on my list is an interesting one. It's the Parker. Is it the fifth in ingenuity is what they're calling it? Now, I'm very interested in this pen because it's kind of like a hybrid with a felt tip and a fountain pen. Now, I don't really know a lot about it, Brad. You may know more than me. But I've just seen little bits about it. When it came out here, there was quite a lot of advertisement around it. Right. It's not cheap. It's just shy of $200. It's anywhere between $160 and $350, basically, is what I've seen. But I'm really, really intrigued to try one out. I should try and get to a high-class pen store and make sure I've got the money in my pocket just in case. But with the thought to actually try one of these things out. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah, this would be one I definitely want to try. '''Myke Hurley:''' Yes. But I know that if I try it and I love it, then I need to make sure I've got the money to buy it. So maybe a birthday gift to myself. '''Brad Dowdy:''' I remember when this came out. It's maybe been a year or so. It might be more of my time. It might be getting a little away from me. But, yeah, I was inundated with emails when this came out. And, oh, check this out. What do you think about this? Or this is stupid or this is great. And it's an extremely odd pen. And Parker, to their credit, has kind of stepped out a little bit on this pen. '''Brad Dowdy:''' I've never tried one. It looks pretty cool. And I kind of have the same feelings about this, like the fountain pens that we were just talking about, spending $150 for something that looks like almost, like you say, a child's pen. It's obviously not. But it's got funny colors and things like that. This would essentially be paying that kind of money for a Sharpie pen. It's like a marker pen. It's not a fountain pen. It's a felt tip refill that's made to look like a fountain pen. I was like, I just can't justify spending that kind of money for a Sakura Pigma Micron. It's the same kind of theory. '''Myke Hurley:''' Does it take refills then? '''Brad Dowdy:''' It takes its own refill, yeah. It's a cartridge. I didn't look at this. I believe when I looked at it before, I think it's a cartridge-based, right? So it will β '''Myke Hurley:''' But do you replace the β Do you replace the felt? Like do you replace the tip? '''Brad Dowdy:''' That's a good question. '''Myke Hurley:''' Because when I was watching this little video, it kind of said that like a fountain pen, it adapts to your way of writing. So I assume that that's by wearing down the nib, right? In the same way. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah, so I don't know. I'd have to read about it a little more to see what the materials of the nib is because the way they make it look, it looks like a plastic nib, which is obviously going to break down over time just because of what it's made of. '''Myke Hurley:''' Yeah. But I think unlike the ones we were talking about earlier, it does look like a $160 pen. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yes, from a barrel perspective. '''Myke Hurley:''' Yeah, which is important because you've still got to refill the fountain pens. I'm really intrigued to try one of these out and it is quite high on my list actually. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah, so the refill for this is a complete nib unit and cartridge. '''Myke Hurley:''' Interesting. I wonder how long they last. '''Brad Dowdy:''' I don't know. My internet is being slow right now. This link isn't coming up. '''Brad Dowdy:''' It looks like a complete nib unit. So yeah. Yeah. That's a really interesting pen. I've yet to β none of my readers or none of the listeners have ever said that they've owned one of these. They're all like, hey, have you gotten this pen yet? They want someone to be the guinea pig. Exactly. '''Myke Hurley:''' They want somebody to be that person, right? Right. If I can find it for a good UK price, I will consider just going for it because I actually think I will like it. But it's β I think it will be difficult for me to find for a good UK price because as well I don't want to import a pen of that value again because of all the hassle that I had trying to get the vanishing point over here. Exactly. I'm not really β I just don't want to do that anymore. If I'm going to buy a pen of that value, I will pay the extra necessary to get β just to get it here, the buy it UK based. Because even though I probably still saved a little bit of money, the aggravation and hassle in trying to get the retro as I documented on this show, right? It was just a lot of hassle to try and get it here. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Oh, it was brutal. Yeah, it took forever and it was lots of headache. So here's what you need to do. '''Myke Hurley:''' I can get it for 100 pounds actually. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Well, here. Just listen to this. Listen to this idea. Okay. Because I remember when it came out, this is what I was going to do and I never did it. Go buy the refill. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Spend $8 on the refill. You have the entire pen in your hand. '''Myke Hurley:''' Oh, my God. Yeah, of course. '''Brad Dowdy:''' See how you like it writes and then you're paying $150 if you like the barrel. '''Myke Hurley:''' I'm looking on Amazon right now. '''Brad Dowdy:''' I found the β the first link I clicked was on Levenger. Levenger has all the refills and it's a complete nib unit. It's got the pen. You know, that's what you're β this is the thing I always talk about. '''Myke Hurley:''' I'd probably like a medium parker, right? '''Brad Dowdy:''' Mm-hmm. '''Myke Hurley:''' Right. It will be here by next week. Yeah. So on next week's show, I will be able to give you all an update on β '''Brad Dowdy:''' So you bought the refill for the Ingenuity 5th. '''Myke Hurley:''' Yep. Okay. Five pounds, which is perfectly fine. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah, so it's about eight bucks. '''Myke Hurley:''' Oh, it's β with shipping is eight pounds. Oh, wait. I can get free. I know because I want it definitely to be here. So I will get β I will pay the β so it's eight pounds, which is fine for a pen.
