'''Myke Hurley:''' the thing is we have turned this into a collector's game it's never it was never intended to be that way and i mean you know you could say one way or the other but it seems like the field notes uh crew they're not trying to make it more of a collector's game they're not trying to like obfuscate that but like they address that it's there right obviously because you could see that they are participating in the group they're trying to be good sports but this isn't why they create these things um because if they wanted to make them a collector's thing they'd just bump up the price a bit more right you know i don't know they could they could do anything but it would be different but they're not trying to make this a collector's thing we have made it that way and and i don't get this meanwhile we get shenandoah business like i don't i don't like it it's it's like this isn't how this works like this isn't a democracy like the field notes crew are making the books that they want to make and then they make special editions of companies that are willing to pay them the money to do it but it isn't a gotta catch them all type scenario like this isn't even this isn't a series or something like that oh i don't know i'm not i feel like i'm not fully saying what i want to say but it just it frustrates me it just really frustrates me like it's it's people oh you you go i can't do this field notes doesn't owe us anything that's there we go that's what i was looking for that whole time i was rambling away the collective us they they don't

'''Brad Dowdy:''' owe us anything and to have this self-righteous post that we're getting the short end of the stick for how they run their business and they've been nothing but amazing to the community it enrages me i've like rage typed out a response to this like three times and i just ended up deleting it i i can't i can't post it you know i said you know i i tried ever since you know we had the that what was i was doing the esterbrook and whatever that one sketchy kickstarter pin was where i was getting all upset all the time just because i was mad at how they were handling their business you know i said i'm gonna you know take a chill uh i'm losing my cool but i haven't been this upset at a post with the field nuts community since aaron draplin had to come in right in the beginning and say hey um stop emailing my mom about the stuff i have at my house you know that was embarrassing and this is embarrassing for the community i think field notes has done nothing but be extremely loyal to their fans they're not doing anything any other business wouldn't do which is that is to continue to grow their brand the best way they see fit i have faith in what they do as a business you know they do what they feel right they've never wronged anybody and to think that they owe you something is it completely scrambles my brain like getting the short end of the stick for our loyalty to the brand is just something that is so unfathomable to me that i can't understand how this comes out of someone's mouth i am super upset that brian and jim and aaron have to read this post because it just puts it's a it's a black mark on the community that's how that's how serious i feel about this that you feel that you have that they owe you something it's entitled for how they run their business it's it's super frustrating um i mean i you know i don't have a lot more to say other than that because it's really cut and dry i mean this is a black and white thing it's a ridiculous post and there's no explaining it away it's an absolute asinine post um and you know i it just to have that attitude to towards a company that has done nothing but absolutely love its customers is is beyond me so yeah so i it's been a while since i've gotten that upset about a little thing you know it's it's paper in a in a notebook but just the yeah like you said the sense of entitlement um they the the the company as a whole doesn't deserve comments like that they haven't done anything to you to deserve that and uh i just feel bad that they actually have to read that that that that makes them put up the wall right when if your customers start saying those things about it you about you uh that wall is starting to get built brick by brick and right now there's no wall between field nuts and the community as a whole but you know the continuation of posts like that they're going to start buying some bricks and some mortar and the wall is going to start to be built and then what are you going to get you know it it's that's not how we want to go and there's no reason for a post like that and uh so i'm done it's like the idea

'''Myke Hurley:''' that the guy goes on later on to say that he thinks that there should be a special edition for collectors and and that kind of thing like you know for the for the diehards but that's like you're you're basically asking them to make a notebook to not be used like it just completely goes against

'''Brad Dowdy:''' so let's wrap it up on on one ask uh tpa question and this is like way off off the uh off the beaten path and we'll end it up on a um on a good good positive note because i thought this was a a good question from our friend jenny at three tapes three staples and i it made me think and she just wanted to know very simply what's the most difficult part of podcasting i.e while you're recording so what's do you do you have an answer to this i kind of think i know what you're gonna say

'''Myke Hurley:''' self-confidence oh okay i thought you were gonna say nothing no the it's the most difficult thing but eventually it's not a problem anymore but yeah when you begin you have to be confident

'''Brad Dowdy:''' enough to talk right so i think the issue i have is getting ahead of myself and kind of like like i want to do a good job with each individual thing we talk about right i don't if we're gonna speak on something i want to give it my full go right i want to give that all the attention it needs and we'll finish that topic and then we'll move on to the next and sometimes i get lost in the show flow right like you know what are we going to talk about next how are we going to throw it to this how are we going to work other things in i mean i think in general we do a good job but in the end like i wonder did i do a good enough job on this one little piece right so i get ahead of myself and stop mentally working on the thing i'm actually talking about at the time and then uh and lose myself a little bit so that's that i find a little bit difficult just about the the live recording uh of the show everything else is great though i mean it's it's fun um we obviously enjoy it um we enjoy each other we we are have done this long enough now to where we kind of know you know how each other works through topics and you know kind of when the stopping points are and you know when we're jumping into things like that and um you know i did a periscope before this show and said these are all the things we're going to talk about on today's episode and guess how many of those we talked about just a handful nope zero oh right okay i said i'm going to talk about i was like doing this show and tell all these pins i'm going to talk about but i knew right when we started that there was no way i was going to be able to do those topics justice so we'll just save them for next time right so we're able to do that on the fly now but um in general there's not many difficult parts but i do get ahead of myself sometimes so

'''Myke Hurley:''' yeah i mean i agree with that um on a show by show basis but i'm assuming that that jenny is coming to this as maybe somebody that is interested um in doing this uh which is why i would say like the first thing you just need to get over is being able to talk into the microphone um and also being okay of hearing your own voice because you're going to hear it when you're editing it all right when you're listening back um but the the best way to get over the nervousness part is to record with a friend um maybe a friend in real life a friend that you've met online someone that you have you've share obviously share a passion with um and then also talk a bunch and maybe record a couple of episodes that you never intend to release to the world because you'll get used to it a little bit more and that kind of thing um and and that's that's how you kind of get to the point where you become comfortable because eventually it just becomes a conversation between some friends right right and
